Hey guys, got a firewall question...
Hi, I have the firewall turned on in the ORBI router. Is it also necessary to turn on the firewall in Preferences > Security and Privacy in the macOS?
Thanks!

What? What did you mean by this?
Hi, I have the firewall turned on in the ORBI router.
And no, Not my router.
Sorry for confusing things. I have the ORBI app on the iPad Pro and there's nothing in it regarding firewall. I just remembered that I have to log into 192.168.1.1 to do all of that. I just don't recall where the firewall section is.
I remember enabling the firewall on the router, but that was last year. So I turned on the firewall on the Mac instead, but it's giving me issues when beta testing certain software. I'll ask my provider. Thanks again.
Because it's redundant to run two Firewalls. If the Firewall in your router is so bad it needs another one, then you might as well disable it and run the macOS Firewall.
No.
Hey dialabrain. could you please elaborate a little as to why it's not necessary? Thank you!
ok got it. Thanks for your help.
You're welcome. FWIW, I don't run the Mac Firewall on any of my Macs.
Are you using firewall from your router or modem? Thanks
From the router.
That's what I thought. I have an ORBI plus a satellite, but can't locate the firewall. Are you also using an ORBI? Thanks
Not really helping. How did you enable the firewall if you don't know where it is?
In any case, ask your provider.
You're welcome.
