Sent Mail received: Can I require a read receipt from the person I email?

Is there a way to mark an email to notify me when the receiver opens the email? Is there a read-receipt function?

Apple mail Delivery receipts I know that Read Receipts (Message disposition notification) can not be relied on to inform one whether a recipient has opened, let alone read, an e-mail and so I do not intend to try. However a "Delivery Receipt" (Delivery Status Notification) is useful in that it indicates whether a mailbox exists and, if it does, whether it is accpting e-mails (e.g. not full). Can I request a delivery receipt or is it automatically handled?

No, there's no read receipt for e-mail.
