iTunes won't open - not responding

  • iTunes 12.9
  • MacOs Mojave 10.14
  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

I had an issue since the earlier version of iTunes and MacOs. iTune instantly crash every time I click on "Recently added". I tried restarting MacBook, clear iTunes cache, re-sync iCloud library after signing out. Nothing worked.

Then I tried to use Time Machine to restore the .../Music/iTunes folder.

And right now, I cannot even open iTunes. There is a little white dot under the icon but nothing appears, the app is unresponsive and need to force quit. Safe mode is also not working, it said "visual plugins you have installed is disabled...", and it is still unresponsive.

I've browsed through a lot of discussions but still couldn't find any solution.

Can you hold down option while starting iTunes to get an dialog box to create a new library, and if so will iTunes open with that?
