Can someone tell me how to change a email account from pop to imap? I was told this will fix my email issues.
The reason i think i need to is because my ipad and phone are now downloading emails that have been deleted from my mac. I also changed the setting in email >preferences to remove from server in one week BUT email from weeks ago keep downloading anyway! this has just started recently.

It's a pita. You can do the change directly. I suggest you either backup your machine or export all you messages to several files based on the folder name.
You can now create a new account that imap. You now import all your messages into the appropriate folder.

Changes in POP accounts don't sync to the server/other devices/computers. IMAP accounts sync.

I don't see that as likely. Many email clients have a switch for leave on the server or delete on the server. I think smartphones default to imap. Perhaps some confusion resulted.
Hopefully, the problem will go away with the change to imap. Think positive.
