How can you use a unified inbox in IOS Mail but still receive notifications for specific accounts or folders?
I use an iPhone and I receive a lot of email, use several accounts (work, personal, iCloud, Gmail, Office 365...), and use a unified inbox so I can see everything in one place. I would like to get notifications for important emails that are not associated with a particular contact...for example, emails from certain companies or groups with multiple members, or other situations where I know at least one item that will appear in the email (domain, subject text...) but not the exact email address. I would think this is fairly common for anyone who only wants alerts for high priority messages.
Currently IOS Mail has two options for email notifications; using VIP, or using Favorite Mailboxes...each one has its own individual Notifications option. VIP only works with addresses you have saved on your phone, so Favorite Mailboxes is the only potential solution. Correct?
This is where I stumble...and maybe I'm missing something simple. To get notifications for a Favorite Mailbox, you need to select the the specific mailbox (or mailbox folder) that you want notifications for, then add it to the (untitled) Favorite Mailboxes list (at the top of your mailbox/folder list in the Mail app). Easy enough. But to use the unified inbox, you also have have "All Inboxes" in that list, right? Which means you'll get notifications for every email from every account.
I assume the issue is the same for anyone wanting to view all of their mail in one place and prefer to only get notifications for specific accounts.
To sum up my long description with one question...
