iPhone 8 Plus home button multi clicks

When I click the home button sometimes it will multi click, when I don’t want it to. This is randomly happening. It will do it for a few times then go back to the single click. It’s annoying as instead of going to home it opens the magnifier or the app swapping screen. Is my home button failing?
