can i mix 4gb and 8gb off ram together on the imac 2017- 27 inch 5k 3.4 i5

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

3.4 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4


hi, can i mix 4gb stock Ram, with new third party 16gb 2x8gb stick of ram together and which slot should i put them in to make 24gb Ram in total?😕

iMac with Retina 5K display, macOS Mojave (10.14.1), 8gb memory

iMacs have RAM slots arranged in slot pairs. RAM only in the paired slots must be the same. See below. The two modules in each row must be paired. Two 8GB modules in Row 2 along with two 4GB modules (the stock config.) in Row 1 will give you 24GBs.
