iPhone ringer problem

My wife and I have two iPhones, a Xs and a Xs Max. When each phone rings the ringtone is loud for a second or two and then it becomes so low that it is almost inaudible. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

iPhone XS, iOS 12.1, One month old

It is not a problem. The iPhone X and higher are designed that way. Once you pick up the phone and look at it, then TrueDepth camera recognizes that you are looking at the phone and turns the volume down. If you wish to turn this feature off, then go to Face ID & Passcode, Attention Aware Features and turn that off. If you read under it, you will see what it does.
