How do I import a Mov. movie from tape? In I Movie it breaks up in fragments in a strange order

A few years ago I edited a movie in I Movie and saved it on tape. Now I would like to save it on my computer or a hard disk. So, when I import it again in I Movie in order to export it to hard disk, it breaks up in selections in a strange order. So I would have to edit it all over....

Is there another way I could import this movie from tape?
