Garbled iMessage

I prepared a message this AM, in English, and when it was received

by my friend who has a Samsung phone the entire message was in chinese.

I read numerous reports on this going back as far as 2013, but have yet to read a solution

May I please have the fix.

NOTE: Just completed a software update prior to sending the message that could not be read by recipient

Any help would be appreciated.
