Hey prime26,

The quoted section in this article explains how to set up, use iCloud, and see your files in iCloud for Windows.

See your files with iCloud Drive

When you turn on iCloud Drive, iCloud for Windows creates an iCloud Drive folder in File Explorer. Any documents that you've stored in iCloud will automatically download to the iCloud Drive folder in File Explorer. Files that you create on your PC and save to this folder automatically appear on your other devices.

User uploaded file

You can also access your iCloud Drive files at iCloud.com.

Set up and use iCloud for Windows

Cheers.

Hey prime26,

If I understand correctly, you want to move files from the iPhone to the Windows computer. One way to do this is to move the files from the iPhone to iCloud and then use iCloud to download to the Windows computer.

Safely store your photos and videos in iCloud. With iCloud Photos, any new photos and videos that you take on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch automatically download to your PC. And you can upload new photos and videos from your PC so that you can access them from your other devices too.

What is iCloud for Windows?

Another way to do this is to import them to the computer using the process outlined here:

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hey prime26,

If you do not want the photos in iCloud you would need to delete them from iCloud. Closing the app will not delete them from iCloud unless you delete them. You can transfer files and photos the same way using the iCloud for Windows article provided above.

If you used the iCloud Photo Library feature on the device, that would have a connection between the computer and iPhone, disabling the feature would make the photos not available on the iPhone but not delete them from the computer either.

How do I delete photos and videos from a device using iCloud Photos?

If you want to remove photos and videos from all your iOS devices, your Mac, and iCloud.com, you can delete them in the Photos app.

How do I turn off iCloud Photos on only one device?

You can turn off iCloud Photos on a single device when you follow these steps:

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then turn off iCloud Photos.*

Take care.

I''ll try elsewhere as you suggest and thank you.

I looked in on the cloud and there is nothing yet the photos are still om my device.

I hope it stays that way. I do have backups but getting then from external drive backup to the device will be challenging as I cannot paste them into the device as I could with Android.
