I have an old MacBook Pro 2012 model and after updating to the latest version of OS sierra...my keyboard will not light up when first turning on the notebook. the keyboard stays dark until the system loads up completely after login. this is frustrating when powering up in the dark cause you can not see the keys.
Please advise if there is a fix to this problem?

After turning off FileVault and un-encrypting the hardrive...everything with the keyboard lighting is back to normal. Now the keyboard lights up shortly after turning on the power. 🙂. All is good thanks.

That's the way it's supposed to work then. The settings for keyboard lighting won't be available until the system is loaded.
If it means that much to you, turn off FileVault.
Are you using FileVault?
Yes FileVault is turned on for my drive.
