light box on an ipad
Anyone come across a light box (for drawing/tracing) that can be connected to an iPad via Lightning cables? I can only find ones that connect with USB.

What iPad model do you have?
Light tables/boxes only work using a dedicated plug-in power supply, using a rechargeable lithium battery that can charge over USB or USB from a computer and/or a powered USB hub.
There are no light table boxes that work with iOS devices and Lightning cable power.
Light tables/boxes draw too much power from an iOS device.
Why not simply take a picture of a sketch/drawing, using the camera on your iPad , bring it into a drawing app on your iPad, then use use any type of common capacitive stylus or battery powered, so-called “active”, fine point capacitive stylus or smart Bluetooth stylus to trace over the photo/image in drawing app?
This is one of the strengths of using an iPad.

Why not just purchase a dedicated light box/table/panel?
There are lots of thin light box panels to choose from on Amazon.
Do not have to have any iPad involved, at all!
Thanks for your quick response! You resolved my biggest issue in that NO light boxes work with lightning cable power.
I was looking for an easy way for a young person to step up their ability to draw people/animals etc. I thought being able to trace an object through a light box (and especially to trace pics from the internet through the iPad) would be useful.
Sounds like I need to look in another direction.
I very much appreciate that you have given me lots of info.
I just figured out today that you can't project an image on the light box from a computer (sorry, duh!), so I do know that now. I also looked at some demos of light boxes on YouTube and also saw a nice review of an Huion light pad. I also saw a couple of references to using an iPad screen to trace from, using the right tools (not too sharp pencils).
So I'm pretty sure I understand the whole setup much more than when I posted the original question. Thanks, again, for all your input.
Thanks for the idea. I really don't know anything about light boxes, just thought it might be fun to trace pictures from the internet.
What is there to know?
They are just portable thin slabs that have bright LED or LCD lights in them to use for arts and crafts projects.
They come in different sizes and prices.
Prices range from $60 to $120 depending on the size on the light panel
You use these on another flat surface or on a drawing table/kitchen table/desk.
Look up light boxes/light panels on Amazon.
Huion and Litup are two companies that make portable light boxes
You can even use a strong above light sources, like newer LED office lamps or mountable/clamping LED lamps if the light from these LED lamps are bright enough from above for drawing and tracing if the paper is translucent/transparent enough.
Large/long enough and bright enough LED office style desk lights can run the price gamut from $50 to $100, or so, too!
What’s the problem?
I have given you some very good options to look into.
You would need to print out images from the Internet to trace manually.
You know that, right?
