Mojave and Socks Proxy

At startup I find the option configure the Socks Proxy checked and, as a consequence, my internet connection (especially in the case of Mail) does not work or, at the best, is extremely low for a couple of minutes and then goes off. I uncheck the notion and all works fine. However, at a new startup I find the option checked again. Does anybody know a solution to this?

It appears to have arrived around the same time as the Adobe and Agenda installs.

Here, I’d also remove the Memory Clean app, and let macOS manage its own memory and particularly its own I/O caching. I’d also remove Clean My Mac. And Kasperski. And JDI SShelper.

Install another pair of DIMMs; another 8 or 16 GB. This if you’re at all short on memory during normal usage. Real memory and memory caching is faster than the alternative.

Is this system associated with a business or organization, or otherwise provisioned?

Is your DHCP server configured to vend WPAD or ilk, and with an associated proxy setting?

Any add-on anti-malware, anti-virus, any network traffic monitors, cleaners, optimizers or ilk? If so, remove that per the vendor instructions, reboot, and test again.
