Speed up render animations in fcpx?

I'm dabbling with 3rd party Title and Generator animations, but naturally they take a little time to render in my 1080p timeline. My timeline is 1080p ProResLT.

Is there a way to view the animations in a lesser quality while I'm throwing clay on the slab, and then when I'm happy with my creation, bring it back in full HD quality? Rendering as you know is a in-the-moment creativity killer.

Just looking for advise, since I'm using a 2013 Mac Pro. Thanks

Depending on the complexity of the effects and the speed of the computer you’re not really required to render for playback. You might get some skipping, but a second pass of often smoother. Rendering in lower res isn’t really a benefit. The bottleneck is in effects processing not in the file creation.
