Apple Books not opening

i am having an issue with the Apple Books program not opening (at all) upon clicking on the icon on the dock or in the applications folder. No spinning beach ball present either. Clicking on the icon does absolutely nothing. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this problem?

Apple Books freezes up repeatedly I have purchased Mac OS Catalina by David Pogue from the Apple Bookstore. I've been reading along, highlighting here and there, and suddenly, last night, it wouldn't let me do anything: highlighting, turning the page, etc. Tonight I picked it up to try again and it let me turn the page once before freezing up again. I have tried quitting and relaunching the app, rebooting the iPad, making sure I am updated to the latest version -- 13.5.1 (17F80), etc. Advice appreciated.

Books won't open on M2 MacBook Air On my Mac Mini and iPad Air I can open and read all my books without issue. On my MacBook Air M2, only a few of my books will open. They all used to open, prior to Ventura. My Mac Mini, iPad Air and MacBook Air are all associated with my AppleID and all have been authorised. One weird thing I noticed is that in Books | Settings | General if I tick download new purchases automatically it only stays ticked for a few seconds. I have tried signing in and out of my account. I tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my MacBook Air. Not even an Apple book like "MacBook Air Essentials" will open on my MacBook Air.
