My iPad wants old ID

For some reason, my iPad is "stuck" on an old ID. I don't seem to be able to change it. When I try, I have to use a new password, which then affects my laptop and iPhone. Any thoughts.

Are you seeing an Activation lock? Can you sign out of the old ID? If you can't sign out, what happens when you try? Error message(s)?

Activation Lock - Turn off Find My iPhone

Is the old ID linked to prior purchases made using the ID? Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired.
