What is the watch band made of?

I have an Apple Watch 3 and I am curious what the watch band is made of because it makes my wrist break out into a really bad rash/patchy dry skin. So bad it cracks/bleeds/burns. I don’t wear it in the shower, washing dishes, etc so it’s not water under it. It’s bad. It’s bad enough that I have to go a week at a time without wearing it so my wrist can heal. What’s the point of having it then? I have never had this problem with a fit bit. Just after I got the watch. The patch pictured is just one spot on my wrist. It’s like this on the other side too and on the bottom. This is also after a day or so of putting some ointment on it to help with the burning, itchiness, & dry skin.
