Macbook Air not connecting to internet - error: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET

Hi,

I've been having trouble loading pages from the internet. My macbook air shows full internet connection but when I type in urls on Chrome, I get the error in the title of this question. Safari is also not loading pages. When I first started having internet issues, only some pages would load (like gmail) but not others (like facebook), and after some research I seemed to solve that by I think turning ipv6 off via command line. I've also tried restarting my laptop and renewing the DHCP lease but nothing seems to be working anymore. Any help would be appreciated. I'm on El Capitan 10.11.6
