After installing the latest updates to OS and Pages.app, Pages.app has stopped showing suggestions. Notes.app works fine.

Both apps are set for exactly the same Spelling options:
Guesses work fine even in this browser, just NOT in Pages.app.

In the Spelling and Grammar : Show Spelling and Grammar sub-menu selection, is your bottom selector set to Automatic by Language, or your explicit language (e.g. U.S. English, etc.)? Set it to your explicit language variation. I am using Pages v7.3 on High Sierra 10.13.6, and changing the following provided a correct guess. If you are using mixed languages in your document, you may have to select the other languages block of text, and then change this to its explicit setting, to spell check it.

Has anyone found a solution for spelling suggestions? I have a 102,000-word Pages document that I'm editing; there's no suggestions for misspelled words; often words spelled correctly are underlined in red; I'm forced to retype the word to get rid of the underline. Massive waste of time! If there's no solution, I'll have to go back to Word.

I posted my experience with the same issue, dated Jan 29 of this year. Apple opened a ticket on the problem, and that was the last I heard from them. What I had to do to get the spelling suggestions was to write 9K of words, then open a new document and keep pasting the documents together until I finished my book. I'll not use pages for my next novel! Apple doesn't care about anything other than their iPhone Apps.

Hi - I filed a bug report with Apple. I've just visited the report and saw that it was a duplicate of another bug report (ID#46351233), so my report has been closed. However, I can't access that duplicate report so I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. I'd like to assume that there is someone working on this and it will be included in the next Pages update, but then I'm optimistic by nature and have a loyalty towards Apple that may well be misplaced.
Thanks for responding. My word count ceiling varies novel to novel, even under 8000 on one of my docs. I've been using Pages since its inception, and over the years it's just deteriorated. It was probably time to shut the lid permanently when Go to page # was stripped from the program.

The bug has recurred in a new document. Again, it only started after the document reached around 13,500 words and included several inserted images.
Did you find a solution? I'm having the same issue.
Thank you for letting me know. I have also determined that word count, in my case above 8000 words, causes the problem.
Update March 30th 2019. This morning's software update (8.0 build 6194) has fixed this problem.
