spotlight won't switch to open app on another space

Fixed!

I am not entirely sure which .plist file it was, but I backed up all my /preferences .plist files, deleted all of them and the problem was fixed. I then added back my preferences bit by bit and found that the issue was likely one of the `com.apple.dock` or mouse/multitouch .plists. Interestingly, when I then added all of my backed up .plist files back, it seemed to remain working.

So for anyone with this issue in the future, I'd suggest first backing up your .plist files, delete all of them (if you're willing to possibly set up some things again and get a "welcome" prompt), and then re-add your backed up preferences and restart. If this doesn't work, go bit by bit and remove (with backing up) your preferences until you find the one that's causing this issue. Then I guess you can edit it in Xcode and see what may be the problem.

Thank you for your quick reply. I've already tried toggling this and restarting. It's likely a personal setting in some app, but I've tried disabling everything I can think of. Once again, it does work in a different account.

I too think it is a plist file, but the typical culprits (dock, spaces) have been recreated, so I too am unsure.

Huh, another test user account seems to work. Therefore, some personalized setting must be causing the issue. However, I am not sure what it could be. Furthermore, clicking on an open app in the doc doesn't switch screens to it. I wonder if there is a reset, or perhaps a way to disable most apps and add them one by one to see which is the issue.
