I have just received my new iPhone XS and I'm switching from a 6S.
Previously I would tap the Home button and get back to the first tab of my installed apps.
How can I do this now?
Swiping up will just bring me back to the tab where I was before.
Can't believe they haven't thought about that.

The iPhone guide says to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get back to the home screen.
Swipe to the right to get yourself to the first home screen. If you get to the Today screen, you went too far.
Excuse me, but I would like to get directly from, say, tab 5 to tab 1.
On iPhones with the home button this would be achieved with a single press on the home button.
Where is this function now?

When I first saw this thread, I thought that there should be a way to go to the home page when you don’t have a home button. It took me awhile to dig through the iPhone user guide before I found this.
That function does not exist, since there is no home button. To get back to the first page, you follow the steps that I provided.
