How that gets configured and wired (or gets Wi-Fi’d) depends on your network, and on your particular requirements.
All of the similar Brother printers I’ve worked with have had a web server embedded, and connecting to that allows viewing the status and configuration of the printer. That’d be one of the steps to verify the configuration; if the printer’s web page is reachable from Safari or another browser.
If this is a printer setup question in macOS and the printer is configured and working and the web server reachable (and not a question of the setup of the printer itself), then I‘d remove and re-add the printer from macOS, and see if that resolves the issue here.
If you have a working Wi-Fi network and if this printer is near the Wi-Fi router or a Wi-Fi access point, I’d probably use the wired path and not the Wi-Fi path. Based on a quick look at the specs, this printer does not appear to support AirPrint.
