I'm not talking about an Apple TV setting, if you don't want it to continue to change the source you need to disable CEC on your 4K TV.

Ultimately it is an issue with CEC, which has nothing to do with the device itself but rather the protocol. The fact of Apple TV waking up is again due to network activity so to rectify that you would need to troubleshoot your network.

Again, the device has no way of knowing that Apple TV is waking on its own. It is simply detecting that it's on and switching to the proper input. CEC is there to allow devices to communicate with each other over HDMI, so it can ultimately be controlled using one remote (i.e. the Apple TV switches on and also turns on your tv, along with switching to the appropriate input). So yes, it is working the way it is supposed to.

There will always be posts from users that are having an issue, especially in support forums. I never indicated that you were the only one experiencing this, but I very much know the cause.

A few threads would be indicative of a small group, there are millions of users and most don't have the unit turning on by itself (myself included). Those that do can easily rectify it when proper troubleshooting is done.

Bottom line, you need to dig deeper into your network if you wish to solve this issue. Other than that your options are to disable CEC or continue as you have been.

Actually it's working as intended in this case, as the TV has sensed the ATV has woken up and is switching to the appropriate input. There is no way for it to know that you didn't intentionally wake it up.

The ATV is likely waking up due to interference and that is what is causing the issue to begin with.

If you want to see a current status of the network get a report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks. Try ethernet. Teston another network

Hey thanks for that and I did come across the hat you stated in the net. It’s very unfortunate that I have to disable the CEC anywhere. You figure paying all the money for these expensive items (TV, ATV, Reciever) theu would work accordingly. I have a Samsung 8000, A4KTV, & a Pioneer Elite Reciever. I switched from a Roku 3 to the A4KTV and I love the layout and it’s capabilities.

As for it working correctly I’d have to disagree. CEC is designed for the user to be able to control devices via HDMI by using only one remote control. When my A4KTV automatically comes out of sleep mode I am not utilizing the remote. Also I’ve tuned off all WiFi and turned all of my other connected electronic off. My A4KTV turned on automatically after a few minuites. So that being said and performed there is something wrong with the software not the devices. After reading a few threads online it appears that I am not the only one going through this issue, nor is it a recent issue.

I understand all that you said and thank you for the reply. However, as I stated previously, I have totally disable my WiFi (meaning no internet whatsoever) and the issue still occurred. So through the process of elimination everything is pointing to the devices. As far as the thread it was way more than just one. Don’t get me wrong I want it to work how it should and am willing to try all the suggestions. This is a neat device and how so many are knocking the remote I actually love it.

It is not the device, it is something within your environment. I didn’t say it was one thread, you yourself said “after reading a few threads” and I simply referred to that as a select group. If it were in fact the device it would be a lot more than that, this forum alone would be full of reports and it would be impacting millions of users. One can also easily find similar reports for other devices.

I have had every version of Apple TV, done vigerous testing and been well aware of all aspects of the device. I’ve helped a lot of users over the years, including those who’ve experienced this very issue. It doesn’t occur when there is a stable network and can be rectified once the issue therein has been resolved

You said you were willing to try suggestions, so did you connect Apple TV to Ethernet? Did you run a diagnostics report? What were the results? Did you take it to another network, preferably a controlled one like Apple’s?

If not then there is nothing further to say
