FYI: I have El Capitan running on an iMac and it has 2.711
And I use XQuartz on that iMac displaying output from various Linux systems at work.
Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
...maybe apple could update their dead bintray link...
