Bowers & Wilkins A7 won't connect to my Netgear R9000 router

B&W A7 worked fine on my Apple Time Capsule router but does not connect to my new Netgear R9000 router.

Tried

- resetting the router from scratch

- rebooting the router (multiple times)

- switching the setting "Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence" on/off

- changing the channel from Auto to (1, 6, 10, and 11) - none work

- setting up the device from IOS iPhone 8s plus and MacBook Pro (latest versions)

I had a similar issue with my Denon receiver but rebooting the router fixed that. I have 3 other devices attached to the 2.4 network so I do not think it's the network but the A7/firmware (printer; carrier thermostat; denon receiver are all attached). The setup gets pretty far but fails at confirming settings "There has been a problem confirming your settings - please reattach the speaker".

If you are telling us that B&W speaker worked fine when it was previously connected to the Time Capsule wireless, but you are now using a Netgear router to provide your wireless network signal.....and......you have not reset the B&W back to its default settings and then set it up again.....chances are the B&W speaker is still programmed with the settings to connect to the Time Capsule wireless.....and it does not know how to connect to the Netgear router.....because it has not been set up to do so.

If this might the case, you will need to reset the B&W speaker back its original factory default settings and then set it up again to connect to the wireless provided by the Netgear router.

If you are telling us something else.......please provide as many details as you can.....since we cannot "see" your network devices or know exactly what you might be thinking.

One last thing I would like for you to try and that is to enable IPv6 Link-local only mode on your Mac. To do so:

  • Leave the software firewall and anti-virus (totally unnecessary) disabled.
  • System Preferences > Network > Ethernet or Wi-Fi (depending on how you connect your Mac to the network) > Advanced > TCP/IP > Configure IPv6: Link-local only > OK

There are 3 factors here (Netgear router; B&W A7 speaker; and MacBook Pro running High Sierra). I saw an almost exact issue posted here but they had a different router, thus I was wondering if could be the MacBook Pro or High Sierra (I have had nothing but issues with High Sierra and I have reloaded it numerous times). I did try what the older post recommended with no success (forcing the channels to a specific channel). I did post this on Netgear and on B&W but I am leaning towards it being a B&W issue as I can connect other 2.4 devices (some with a lot of effort and router rebooting).

The B&W SW on my MAC sets up the device but fails upon confirmation and thus does not assign an IP address. I have also tried this on my iPhone IOS device - same results.

I guess the question here is........we are trying to figure out how a Time Capsule might relate your issue with a Netgear router and B&W speaker?

It would seem that you have a question for the B&W support forum.......http://bwgroupsupport.com/

or

the Netgear support forum.....Support | NETGEARhttps://www.netgear.com/support/default.aspx

If you have a question about an Apple Time Capsule.......what would that be?

If you don't have a question about an Apple Time Capsule.....we will try to help on other Apple products like a Mac....but there may not be many users here on a support forum for Apple products that can offer specific help on a B&W or Netgear product.
