Mojave 10.14.1 external monitor (screen) issues

One of the following items seems to be helping most people:

Download and install the Mojave DisplayLink software from here: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/macos and reboot.

Go to Apple menu > System Prefs > Mission control. Make sure that 'Displays have separate Spaces' is checked.

The displaylink thing is irrelevant unless you use an usb adapter.

I would check that the cable and adapter are working and well connected to the mac and display.

How exactly is the monitor connected - what cables and adapters, specifically?

The advice you got about displaylink may not be applicable, depending on the connection.

It does not apply for a miniDP-to-HDMI adapter, but it does if you are using one that connects to USB.

Can you tell us which specific adapter/brand?

Is this just an adapter or a dock with several connectors (usb,hdmi, etc)?

I purchased the adapter indicated by ignis44 (before his post came up of course!) and the problem seems to have been resolved!!

I have the same problem. Dell 2407wfp monitor not longer detected on iMac with 10.14.2. When I connect the same monitor to my Macbook Pro with 10.13.6 it detects and displays fine. Have tried all the "tricks" and none work.

The external display connected to my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) started flickering after updating to Mojave. Its a random flick that lasts a fraction of a second. Have tried installing the Mojave DisplayLink as suggested by mfinzel1 and the problem persists. Also tried resetting the SMC and have the Night Schedule turned Off. Any other suggestions please?

Good for you :). I’ve been using Apple adapter since 2017, no problems with flickering before the update to Mojave. Have tried many solutions (found online), but without the success in my case. My monitor and other devices didn’t change, only OSX version :(

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

The connection setup (USB-C to HDMI adapter) was working well wit the previous OS. Would that point towards an issue with the OS Mojave rather than hardware?

I have the same issue and none of the items listed in the link have helped. My colleague who is running an earlier version of OS X can still connect to the monitor with the same cables and adapters as I was able to until I upgraded to Mojave (10.14.1). Please advise.

I have the same problem on my brand new macbook pro 15" running 10.14.3. The connection seems to be made -- I get the little "DV" signal upper right hand corner, but then no icons show up. The bluetooth mouse and keyboard work, but I have nothing to select! Had no problem with my macbook air 13" (2014) running 10.14.2.

I have the same problem, so annoying :(
