1 folder of apps won’t open iOS 12.1

Hi. I am running iOS 12.1 on iPhone 7 Plus, recently I have 1 folder of apps that won’t expand to show the apps in it. The folder contains 11 apps mostly navigation or travel based. All other folders are working as normal and the problem is resolved with a reboot but soon comes back. TIA for any help and ideas

Hey, Barrett790,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I see that you're having an issue with folders on iOS 12.1. I'm happy to help.

Rebooting was a great step to try, and definitely one I would have recommended. Since you've given that a shot and it only resolve it temporarily, I'd like to recommend that you pull the apps out of that folder one by one until the folder disappears. Once that happens, go ahead and move them back together to create a new folder (with those same apps) and see if that one works for you more consistently.

It sounds like you definitely know how to do all of this, but just in case, you can follow the steps in this article: How to move apps and create folders on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

I hope this information helps you out!

Cheers.

I have this problem as well. I tried the 'move apps out of the folder' trick but even in wiggly, move-apps-around mode the folder won't open. It's jiggling but it won't open. And it's just one folder. If it matters it contains photos and my camera app, but this seems inconsistent with the OP above. It's not the end of the world since I can always swipe down and type to search for the apps but it's definitely inconvenient and a strange bug.

My next step will be to try to manage the folder/apps from iTunes. I'll empty the folder and then sync and then recreate the folder...
