Hello, capao1!

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here. I see that you're having some trouble connecting your iPhone to your car, and I'm definitely happy to give you a hand with this.

Are you able to use headphones that connect to the same port on your iPhone 8? The EarPods that come with your iPhone 8 would be the best headphones to test with. I'd like to recommend that you test with those headphones and see if they work. If they do, then see if you can test with another pair of headphones that would allow you to use the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter that came with your iPhone in the box. That way we can try and rule out whether this is affecting your headphone output or just the adapter itself.

In the meantime, it's always a good idea to reboot your iPhone when you encounter unexpected behavior. You can follow the steps here: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

I hope this information is helpful!

Best regards.

Hey, capao1,

That's definitely interesting but the troubleshooting you did was really good. Do you both drive the same car or do you have different vehicles? It's important when we see issues like this to isolate it as much as possible. If you had a second vehicle you can test in, we may be able to isolate it to just your primary car. Even a friend or family members car would be fine to test with, if that would be an option.

If you don't have another vehicle available, I would recommend that you contact Apple for support and service . This will let you get connected directly to the team who can work on advanced troubleshooting with you, including possibly restoring your iPhone to factory settings.

Cheers.

thanks for the reply!

yes, i am able to use the headphones with the same port on my iphone 8. i tried using the lighting to 3.5mm adapter with older headphones and that works. perhaps something with the new update is preventing the aux to lightning cord from working in the car? i bought that on amazon so it's a 3rd party brand cord. but that 3rd party cord worked 100% with my phone and my partner's iphone 8 in the car before we both switched to the new update on iOS.

lmk what to test out next?
