Friends activity not showing on Apple Watch

I can see my friends activity on the iphone activity app but not on my watch. This worked before, but stopped once I got a replacement watch.

I unupaired the old watch, removed it from my icloud accounts, updated watch, removed all friends from the iphone activity app, added back friends and still nothing... (and the usual restart and re-pair of course)

Any other fixes or something that Im missing?

Hello DaveyRy,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community. I understand that you're not seeing your friend's activity on your Apple Watch.

You've already tried some great steps to resolve this. Since you're still having trouble, then I recommend to try removing your friends from your activity and then add them back to your sharing. You can also try signing out of iCloud and back in by following the Get Help steps mentioned below:

Stop sharing

  1. Open the Activity app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Sharing tab, then tap your friend.
  3. Tap Remove Friend. After you remove a friend, they can't see your activity, and you can't see their activity. To start sharing again, send your friend a new invite.

Get help with Activity Sharing

Activity Sharing requires iOS 10 and watchOS 3 or later. If you paired more than one Apple Watch to your iPhone, the Sharing tab won't appear in Activity until you update all your watches to the latest version of watchOS.

If you see an error when you try to add a friend or send an invitation

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, then sign back in:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name]. On iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap Settings > iCloud.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sign Out.
  3. Go back to Settings > Sign in to your [device], then enter your Apple ID and password. On iOS 10.2 or earlier, go back to Settings > iCloud, then enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. Tap Sign In.
  5. Try to add your friend or look for the invitation.

If you still can’t add a friend, make sure that they have an Apple Watch and that you haven’t added the maximum number of friends. You can add up to 40 friends.

If you don't get updates about your friend's activity

As long as your iPhone can connect to the Internet and you're signed in to iCloud, you can get updates about your friend's activity each day. If your iPhone can't connect for multiple days or you sign out of iCloud, you might see missing days.

Share your Activity with your Apple Watch
Let me know how those steps work out for you.
Take care!

DaveyRy,

Thank you for the update. Since that didn't seem to have helped, I have a few more things for you to try.

First, make sure the software on both your iPhone and Apple Watch is updated. These articles will show how if you need a reminder:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Update your Apple Watch

Then unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch. The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup during set up.
Unpair and erase your Apple Watch
Set up your Apple Watch

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.

Both the iPhone and Apple watch are at their latest versions.

I tried unpairing and repairing the watch with the latest backup and that made no difference unfortuantely.

I am going to try an older version later on today in case there is some sort of glitch within the backup info that is preventing this from working properly.

The watch gets the information of a friend trying to add me however when I click accept they still do not show up on the watch (the newly added friend will show up on the acitivty app in the iPhone app though)
