How do I keep Mac Safari from using the Bing Search engine?

I have selected Google as the search engine in Safari, but all the searches still come up as Bing. There is no way to choose the search engine in the search bar in Safari as there is in FireFox. I would still be using FireFox, but also had another phantom search engine take control of that.
