MacBook Air internal HD Replacement

My 2010 MacBook Air died and the Mac guys said the hard drive was dead - no re-boot or utility available at all. They also said due to age they could not work on it. I am planning on pulling and replacing the internal hard drive myself, but how can I re-install an OS afterward? I assume that the computer will have no idea what it is on startup...

When the new hard drive is in, it should boot into Internet Recovery Mode. From there you'll be able to download the OS.
