Cannot play explicit podcasts

Hi,

I am using iOS 12 on my iPhone and when trying to listen to podcasts I have started receiving the following: "To play this episode, allow explicit content under Screen Time in the Settings app."

I have always allowed explicit content and, upon checking, I see that already under Screen Time in the Settings app it is set to "Explicit" for Music, Podcasts & News.

I have un-installed and re-installed the Podcast app and also reset my iPhone (as per suggestions in the Apple Community) but nothing is working.

Note that I moved regions recently (from UK to UAE), but I am not sure how that could impact the above.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

iPhone 6s, iOS 12.1

Hello, arab_joe!

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here. I understand that you're not able to play podcasts that have explicit content despite enabling that feature in Screen Time. I'm happy to help.

What I'd like to recommend here is that you try resetting all settings. You can reset all settings by opening Settings and scrolling down to General > Reset and choosing 'Reset All Settings'. Keep in mind this will revert all settings that you've customized or changed (including things like your Wallpaper and alarms). This means you may need to reconfigure some of those settings including network settings (so be sure you have your Wi-Fi password handy).

It may not be a bad idea to back up your iPhone beforehand by following the steps here: About backups for iOS devices

Once you reset all settings, go ahead and test Podcasts again and see if you're able to play the explicit content.

I hope that this helps. Cheers!
