I have a 2014 MacBook Air running OS 10.10.5 Yosemite and need to update to OS 10.11. When I logged onto the App store, it says I cannot install OS 11 on this MacBook Air. However, the Apple web page that describes how to update the OS says that El Capitan can be installed on MacBook Airs of this date.
Can anyone help?

The current version is 10.14.1. You must upgrade to that version. Get MacOS Mojave now from the Mac App Store.
The Apple Store will not let you do that. Why don't you want Mojave? Here is a link you might try: El Capitan Download from App Store.
Thanks but that that doesn't answer my question. I don't want to upgrade to Mojave. I just need El Capitan so I can keep running my existing applications.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.
Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.
