FireWire audio interface to Thunderbolt 3 Mac.
Has anyone had success with the FireWire —> thunderbolt 2 adapter—> Thunderbolt 3 USB C adapter setup for a FireWire audio interface? Is there high latency with so many connections?

Oops, I left out : I use an Apogee Ensemble F/W400>F/W800 > a La Cie HD F/W > F/W/ TB2 Adapter>TB3 Adapter>2017 iMac. It works well - even Maestro (the software interface for the Ensemble) after I sorted out permissions in System Preferences.

I have an audio interface that has firewire 400 i/o. The connections were the following:
FW400 card
-> FW400 to FW800 cable
-> FW800 to thunderbolt 2 dongle
-> thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) dongle
-> my laptop
No dice.
I hope that apple can comment on this at some point because I cannot currently find a way to use my device with my new computer, which only has thunderbolt 3 ports.
I should mention that I did not test the "sidedness" very thoroughly, although TB3 is supposed to be agnostic to sides.
