Hello Theodore,

You didn't say whether the problem is with a particular CD, or with all CDs. But make sure you are following the correct ripping procedure in this document:

Import songs from CDs into iTunes on Mac - Apple Support

If a problem occurs, look at the troubleshooting steps in the second half of the document.
