Behringer x32 to Mac - how?

I am using Audacity DAW. I want to record 16 tracks out of the Behringer X32 directly into the Audacity program on my Mac Aire. I have read it is possible but am having trouble making that happen. I understand that ASIO is required but that Mac has it built in. Can someone give me a step-by-step to go by??

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), Audacity Audio DAW

Mac has a CoreAudio driver and x32 is supposed to work with it as a Plug-and-Play device. You don't need any drivers, so it all boils down to configuring your host DAW (i.e. Audacity).

In a nutshell, you need to make sure x32 is selected as your input device in Audacity's preferences. The next step is to configure inputs: each of the 16 audio tracks should have a separate x32 input selected as the source of incoming audio. Since all DAWs work in similar ways, there has to be a way of arming the tracks for recording and monitoring the incoming audio, as well. As for specifics, refer to x32 and Audacity's manuals for details. Hope that helps. Cheers!
