Why do my video recordings freeze on iPhone XR?

Same problem here (iPhone XS Max 512 GB, US-Verizon). I never record video - except today while trying to capture a special event and the darn video kept freezing after a minute or two of recording. And, to any Apple employees following this thread - yes, the phone was turned on, no SD card was inserted, and this is NOT the first time you have ever heard of this happening. Please don’t waste time with inane “rock fetch” or #socialmedia account diversions and just fix this!

Same here. Brand new iPhone Xr bought specifically to get quality videos. iOS 12.1.4. Took it back to the Apple Store the day after purchase. They said they never heard of this. They suggested, “Well, you ARE recording in HD...” as if there wasn’t room on the phone. I have the 128GB that is less than half full. They did a reset which only resulted in having to set everything up on the phone again, but it still freezes up. I often need to do a few test recording before going “live”, and when it freezes up I go back and delet the test recordings. That seemed to work one time, but not another.

Right, Flommy. Received an email today from the apple authorized dealer telling me issue is fixed. I replied if they have repaired something. Answer: No. They just made a reset and checked if video is recording - and it does. The answer to my question if this problem may occur again after I will restore the iPhone from iCloud I was quite astonished: Yes, this might happen. But as it works apple will classify this issue as a software failure.

Update: I found I was able to successfully record an ~10 minute video on iPhone XR when opening the camera app *from the home screen* (springboard). I realized that previously, the video freezing/stopping after 1-2 minutes was occurring when I used the lock screen shortcut (long press of camera icon in lower right) to launch the camera app. So maybe try this to see if it helps.
