No headphones jack - so how do I monitor Mic input in GarageBand?

I recently bought an iPad Pro, and it’s great - but the lack of headphones jack is causing me headaches in GarageBand.

Specifically - if I monitor microphone input using Bluetooth headphones, there’s a huge delay - which makes it impossible to record in sync with the other tracks.

I purchased an adaptor that splits the USB C port to a USB C input and a headphones input - but the iPad doesn’t recognise it.

Has Apple any plans to release an authorised adaptor that does this job? Or what is the official line on how to monitor in GarageBand over Bluetooth without huge latency delays?

Then you'll likely need a combination of adapters.

A USB-C splitter or hub, and then two 3.5mm adapters may work.

It may take some testing to find a hub that works however.

That adaptor doesn‘t allow for a microphohe to be plugged in as well - that’s the problem. I’ve got a USB C microphone, and that takes up the USB C port - so where / how do I plug in headphones? Thanks for answering, though!

Thanks - but having been burnt once already buying a non-Apple adaptor / splitter, I’m not willing to waste more money on another! This must be a common problem - I’m hoping somebody has found a guaranteed solution!

Unfortunately we are end user like you and have no special access to Apple inside information for matters like this. However, Apple's feedback links have already proved their worth when iOS 12.0 changed the keyboard layout in iDevices. Lots of people fussed and Apple restored the previous layout in iOS12.0.1
