That was a big mistake; that told Apple that your payment method was no longer valid. The correct response when dealing with a reputable company is to contact the company to get the charge adjusted. Now Apple no longer trusts you. If you want to continue using Apple services you will have to regain their trust.

Have you followed all of the instructions or only reset its password i.e. have you done : What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support ?
