See the initial reply from ChrispyT, and download MalwareBytes. Also note, the flash update message was bogus, and should never be acted upon.

This happened to me. I know for a fact i did not install anything intentionally so this SONS OF B****S sneaked another way.
anyhow, malwarebytes seems to be able to find them all (its more than just mac cleaner pro)
Here are the locations i found the viruses... i figured it may help someone be able to manually find this very well hidden malwares (i erased my username just for fun of it :))
Open the finder window and select Applications. Then right click on the Mac Cleanup Pro and say send to Trash
If you look at the post just prior to yours, you can see that just trashing the app is not enough. This kind of garbage software leaves files in several locations.
I tried removing the application but it doesn't show up as Mac Cleanup Pro in the list of open applications so there is no way to remove it, that I have found. Also, cannot shut down the pop up windows.
I would recommend uninstalling this application as soon as possible. This application is known to cause trouble, scaring people to believe that they have issues with their computer.
To make sure it is completely removed from your mac, I would recommend installing Malwarebytes to remove the app and all of its files completely.
I have the same problem. I downloaded the Malwarebytes software. Received a message that the software has been blocked. Any suggestions?
It helps to know where you see the pop up windows. Everywhere, or just in your browser?
Well this app is a third party application. It does not come preloaded onto your Mac. You must have unknowingly installed it onto your computer after installing Illegitimate software.
Uninstall this application! I just did and to answer the question, it is not legit. I hope Apple fixes this issue as soon as possible because this should not be on my mac.
Have you ever Install or update Flash Player?
The last time you did so, did the download come from:
get.adobe.com/flashplayer
and NOWHERE Else?
What do you mean by "other than Apple"?
Mac Cleanup Pro is available from the Mac App Store. It is no in any Apple software.
Can you post a screenshot of the popup?
It could be just a popup ad
I have never installed anything other than Apple onto my computer. I updated to the OS X and then this appeared right as soon as I opened Safari.
I am getting the same pop-up and never installed a "Mac Cleanup Pro." It only started appearing after I installed Mojave as well.
Mac Cleanup Pro - Scam?
