Syncing ... what exactly? For example (assuming you are only referring to email):

• Who is the email service provider?
• Is the account type POP? IMAP? Do you know?
• What steps have you tried?
• What do you see?
  • Success steps you see
  • Failure messages
• What version of iOS?
• What model iPhone?
• What version of OS X / MacOS?
• Are the messages on the Mac? On the iPhone?
