Texts go to other person

just updated phone and now when I try to text husband it goes to his sons. We are all in same home, same WiFi but they are on dif plan. son is linked to his dads phone. should he have own Apple ID?

Text Messages gone wrong My husband got a new ipad. It was set up with my apple id so my text messages and phone calls were showing up on his ipad. I created an apple id just for him and signed into it on his ipad. So far so good. Then I went to his cell phone to do the same thing....sign out of my own apple id and into his new apple id. The issue is that now he cannot send a text message to MY iphone from his. My iphone WILL text his, but we cannot even respond to those texts from his iphone. We have texted a few other people from this phone with success. Also, messages to my iphone from his ipad were successful. HELP!

iOS 12 texts going to the wrong family member Our family shares the same iCloud account. Since updating to iOS 12 we can no longer send texts to the correct person’s iPhone. I send to my son’s iPhone and comes up on my wife’s iPhone. Is there a fix?

That's because Apple ID is shared. Everyone should have their own Apple ID.
