MacBook Pro Retina 15" 2018 left speaker sounds like it has no bass

I just got delivery of a refurbished Touch Bar Retina MBP. Upon listening to the speakers, the sound appeared much stronger/balanced to the right.

I went to Pref > Sound and I moved the balance button into the extreme left, and the left speaker sounds like a "cheap cellphone" while the right one has full bass.

Unreal at a price point like this to "hear" this. I am going on a photoshoot out of my state/province... sigh... not sure how much time it would need if I hit a Apple Store.

Anybody have this problem before? Thanks!

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS Mojave (10.14.1), 2.9GHz; 32GB RAM; 2TB SSD

You can request an exchange, no questions asked, within 14 days from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, you need to send it back to Apple. It is always possible the problem is software related so you might try an Erase and Install to return to factory state.

Internet/Network Recovery of El Capitan or Later on a Clean Disk

If possible back up your files before proceeding.

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the (Command-Option-Shift-R) keys until a globe appears.
  2. The Utility Menu will appear in from 5-20 minutes. Be patient.
  3. Select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button.
  4. When Disk Utility loads select the drive (usually, the out-dented entry) from the side list.
  5. Click on the Erase tab in Disk Utility's main window. A panel will drop down.
  6. Set the partition scheme to GUID.
  7. Set the Format type to APFS (SSDs only) or Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
  8. Click on the Apply button, then click on the Done button when it activates.
  9. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
  10. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
