2012 Honda Pilot Touring - iPhone8 Plus Bluetooth Problem

I've got a 2012 Honda Pilot Touring and have recently upgraded to an iPhone8 Plus running 12.1 (16B92). When using the phone over Bluetooth I hear lots of static/noise when the person on the far end is speaking. When there is a pause in the conversation, I hear tones/a continuous beep.

At this point I've swapped out the iPhone8 Plus for a brand new one and am getting the same result. I've called Hondalink helpdesk but they had no answer.

I also have an iPhone7 and iPhone8 (non-plus) and I do not have the same problem.

Hi michaelfromperinton!

I understand that you're experiencing audio issues when connecting your iPhone to Bluetooth, and I'm happy to help. Please follow these instructions, including contacting Apple Support if needed:

If you connect using Bluetooth

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and turn off Bluetooth. Wait for 5 seconds, then turn Bluetooth back on.
  3. Check your car stereo's user manual for how to pair with a Bluetooth device. Most cars require a phone setup on the car display.
  4. If you've connected multiple phones to your car stereo, try renaming your device: Go to Settings > General > About > Name, and type a new name. Then try connecting again.
  5. Update your device.
  6. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
  7. If you still can't connect, contact Apple Support.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car

Cheers!
