Why doesnt my iphone 7 accept my tmobile sim card after it was unlocked for any carrier?

I bought an iphone 7 from my friend who had it under at&t, he unlocked it for any carrier but when I tried inserting my T-mobile Sim card it didn't support it, any reasons why?

IPhone unlocked, sim not supported I have an unlocked iPhone, confirmed with AT&T, and it’s still saying sim not supported. Trying to use a T-mobile SIM card. Phone is paid off and unlocked. I restored it twice via iTunes and it is still not allowing me to use my t-mobile SIM card. Any tips?

Why doesn’t my T-Mobile SIM card work after unlocking my iPhone 10? I’ve followed all the steps of unlocking my phone through att so I can use the phone with T-Mobile but it still won’t let me use the phone. What else do I need to do?

Probably because it was not unlocked for any carrier. See: How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier - Apple Support
