How to delete a partition

Hello! I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro and i uninstalled boot camp but then the storage got separated into two separate hard drive partitions. I tried the method erase and minus and terminal but it gave me to many problems, so I tried to factory reset and restore my MacBook. Upon accessing the Disk Utility (holding down command - R) I tried to erase the partitions but again it gave me an error then gave me an spinning globe and downgraded me from High Sierra to Yosemite. So much problems just to get 50 gbs back. Do I just take this to an Apple store to have it solved and will it cost money to repair?

You did not remove the Boot Camp partition correctly. You need to do the following:

Internet/Network Recovery of El Capitan or Later on a Clean Disk

If possible back up your files before proceeding.

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the (Command-Option-Shift-R) keys until a globe appears.
  2. The Utility Menu will appear in from 5-20 minutes. Be patient.
  3. Select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button.
  4. When Disk Utility loads select the drive (usually, the out-dented entry) from the side list.
  5. Click on the Erase tab in Disk Utility's main window. A panel will drop down.
  6. Set the partition scheme to GUID.
  7. Set the Format type to APFS (SSDs only) or Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
  8. Click on the Apply button, then click on the Done button when it activates.
  9. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
  10. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

Note: This will install the version of macOS that was originally pre-installed. You can then upgrade it by downloading the Mojave installer from the App Store: Get MacOS Mojave now from the Mac App Store.

Oh gotcha! When I got into Disk Utility before reinstalling macOS I “erased” the extra partition and that went successfully, I then clicked partition and tried to merge the partition into Mac HD but it gave an error (and this was after 5 reboots) so I went ahead and reinstall macOS but it gave me an option to reinstall in the original Mac HD (70gb) or the partition (50gb) and now it’s installing to Mac HD. What I am afraid is that after reinstalling I will still have the partition and deleting and moving all of my files to an external hard drive would’ve been a waste of time
