MBP late 2013 compatibility with Dell Monitor U2718Q
Hi community,
I recently just bought a Dell Monitor U2718Q and am going to use it with my MBP retina late 2013 (which I believe is capable of running 4K resolution). Currently, I am connecting my MBP using Display port to Thunderbolt cable.
My questions are:
- how do we actually use a 4K monitor with our MBP?
- Obviously when I connect to the monitor with default resolution setting, all the fonts and everything will appear really small. If I choose to bring down the resolution to 1920 x 1018 then there's no need to get a 4K monitor, right?
- so how do we actually use 4K monitor?
- is it compatible with macOs at all?
the latest driver that Dell has for this monitor can only be run from Windows machine
- the color quality that I am seeing in the monitor is not that great and it makes my eyes really tired
- I read some review on LG monitor and how it supports macOs in terms of providing software to calibrate the color
- can this be done with this Dell monitor?
I mean, I really like this monitor but if it's not compatible with macOs, I might want to refund it and purchase an LG monitor instead to avoid problems in the future.
Thanks!
MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Mojave (10.14.1)
