how to clear a pop up blocker when opening a gmail message is safari 12
I am running Safari 12.0.1 and High Sierra 10.13.6
I am working from home while I recover from an injury. I often need to open a gmail message in its own window so I can edit it over a bit of time and not forget to send it before I shut down. At work, we have to use Firefox for a program we run. When I click on the shift key and the pop out icon, the gmail window opens into a separate window. When I try it here at home, I get an error message
I've gone into Safari's preferences/websites/ Pop up windows and chosen allow for gmail but nothing changes. I keep getting the error message. I have restarted Safari to see if it needs that to take effect but no go.
I've searched and it seems this was an ussue back in Safari 11 with many posts but then the answers stopped with no solution. Can anyone help me fix this? I rely on this tool that I've used before in Safari and is not working in Safari 12.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
