I am inserting a dvd disc into my drive and the disc is not showing on my desk top
i went to sys preferences and it doesn’t appear to show to show on desk top in the down down menu of ”when you insert a blank DVD”

First open finder. Then go to Finder menu bar > preferences > general > check CD's DVD's and iPods.

Mojave has a known bug which won't display blank disks. You can still burn to a disk by creating a folder, placing the files into it you want to burn, then right/control click on the folder and choose "Burn…" from the contextual menu.
Didn’t work. But thanks. Found out it’s a bug in Mojave that doesnt allow blank disc to show. Hopefully Apple is working on it to repair
